“I am very proud of our team, and thankful for our friends from Raleigh, Wilson, and Greenville” said Jeff Hudson, ONWASA’s CEO. “And I am very thankful for our sister utilities as well as local agencies and companies such as the Onslow County School System, Taylor’s Piggly Wiggly, Golden Corral, and Great Gas and Oil who have helped us with support logistics, so our crews could work” he said.
As of this date and time, the only location in Onslow County that remains under a boil water advisory is Topsail Island, including the Town of North Topsail Beach and portions of Surf City served by ONWASA. On Topsail Island, all mains are holding water and, barring unforeseen difficulties, lab analysis will confirm whether the boil water advisory for the island can be lifted by Sunday, September 23rd.
Although water has been restored to water mains on the island, individual homes may still have plumbing breaks or meter breaks due to the shifting sands of the island. Utility crews are now conducting a meter-by-meter inspection of the island. Customers are responsible for home plumbing repairs up to the meter.
ONWASA will not charge customers for water leaks that are a direct result of the storm. ONWASA has waived all account transfer fees for existing customers that are displaced by Hurricane Florence.
Customers with questions about their water utility are invited to call ONWASA at 910-455-0722.
