Earlier in March, Carolina Water Services obtained approval from the Utilities Commission and raised their rates, but neglected to inform ONWASA until later. Carolina Water Services then requested ONWASA to back bill their sewer customers for the full amount with the understanding Carolina Water Service Inc would provide correspondence to their sewer customers to advise of the rate increase, and of the back billing to occur in this month’s billing cycle. Again, these rates were set by Carolina Water Service and not by ONWASA nor Onslow County.
