A mechanical joint on a newly constructed force main separated, allowing the release of approximately 20,000 gallons of wastewater. ONWASA crews were able to recover approximately 5,000 gallons. Upon receiving notification from ONWASA, repairs were made under warranty by the contractor professionally and expeditiously.
ONWASA has contacted the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water Quality Department in Wilmington regarding the release. Samples have been taken from Squires Run Creek and a visual inspection of the affected area has been completed.
